Does the printing tray always stop in this same place? Are there any unusual noises when the tray stops? Are there any errors displayed on the monitor when this happens?

It tends to stick about just under a quater the way through and sometimes near the end of the disc.
Yes, it makes a weird noise when the tray stops.
No error signs.

Hi Simon,
I have checked the warranty status of yoru machine - second year warranty covers the parts only so the labour charge of £60.00 (before vat) per hopur will apply. At the first glance it looks like there is a problem with tray gearing. I believe the repair and cleaning of the unit should not take longer than 1-2 hours. Please confirm you accept the charges and I will proceed with repair.
