Discs are coming out faded & grainy, we have had to change the cartridges when they are half full to try and resolve this issue. Also on several occasions we have cleaned / purged the machine but this doesn't seem to make a difference.
I believe this machine to still be under it's warranty as we bought it 2nd November 2007.
As we do alot of DVD burning for our clients we need this problem sorted out ASAP!

Hi Kyle,
Problem you have described could be caused by a number of things, but usually is related to an ink nozzle not firing properly because it is clogged with dried ink. There are several things to try (I can see that you've tried some of them but just to summarise):
1. Cartridge. Try a new cartridge. Make sure that the ink cartridge has ink remaining. To reset the ink counter, install a brand-new cartridge and be sure to click NEW Colour or NEW Black ink cartridge in the driver preferences.
2. Resolution. Change your resolution. The lowest (and fastest printing) resolution on Bravo is meant only for Draft printing.
3. Media. Try new discs. We only make the printers and the ink, not the discs themselves. There is a wide variety of printable-surface discs on the market. Some print great, some do not.
4. Cartridge Setting. Change the cartridge setting in the driver. Try Colour + Black or Colour only. To change the cartridge setting, right click on the printer in the Printers and Faxes area - choose preferences -click cartridge - set it to Colour + Black or Colour. Colour only will still print black, but will use the color cartridge to print it. We recommend "Colour" only for the best possible quality on all images.
5. Saturation. Decrease or increase saturation in driver preferences.
6. Clean Print Job. Run a cleaning cycle. In printer preferences choose Cartridge Maintenance and Ink Levels. Click the Clean button. Make sure you have discs in your input bin. You may need to repeat this cycle a few times to dislodge any dried ink that may be clogging a nozzle.
7. Manually Clean Cartridge. If you still see banding after all of the above, then you may need to manually clean the cartridge. Follow this procedure:
a. Remove the print cartridges.
b. Moisten a lint-free cloth with water.
c. Hold the cloth against the nozzles for three seconds.This will "wick" some additional ink onto the damp cloth.

I have tried all your suggestions from your email and this still has not resolved the problem.
Would you like me to send you a sample DVD in the post to show you the end result we are getting?
When we received the printer we tested several quality settings, the differences were obvious!
At present there is hardly any difference between the highest and lowest settings.
Could you please advise on what the next step is?

We have indeed received the samples, thanks for sending those. I can see what you mean about the graininess on the print.
This usually indicates a problem with the print head on the cartridge you are using, or that the cartridges are not correctly aligned. It could also be a communication issue between the cartridges and the print engine but a firmware update will resolve that.
You can download and run this file: http://www.primera.com/ftp/Firmware/FirmwareDPIIv1.29_1.43.exe to update your firmware.
I'd also suggest making an alignment CD: If you click on the Start Menu, go to control panel, and click the "Printers" folder to open a list of all your connected printers.
Right click on the "Disc Publisher II" and click "Printing Preferences". Under "Calibration Options" you should see an option to "Align Colour/Black Cartridges".
Click this and it'll run a calibration for you. You may be prompted to place a disc in the tray.
I would also ensure you check you have the latest printer drivers installed. The latest version is V1.03. (You can do this through the Printing Preferences page - right click on "Disc Publisher II Settings" at the top of the list and click about, it should have the driver revision number in there.

Hi David,
Thanks for the email. I have updated the Firmware, Drivers, and aligned the cartridges as you suggested. After doing this, there is absolutely no difference in quality. The print is coming out worse if anything! Would it be possible for you to send an engineer out to try and sort this propblem out? We can't use the machine becuase of the poor quality, as a result we are having to outsource the work we should be doing in house.

Please send us the unit (unfortunaltely there's nothing I can do to cut the cost for you in the terms of the delivery), but if you could pack the unit using original packaging, or if it is not abailable alternative secure packaging then we will sedn you the unit back after repair free of charge. As I mentioned - unit is under warranty as you will not be charged for parts or labour.

I am pleased to inform you that your printer is fully operational. The only problem we have expierienced was with the cartridges returned with the printer. Please note that the unit been sent back without original packaging and the replacement packaging is not serure enough. The unit will be send back to you but we can not take responsibility for any potential damage that might be caused to the unit during transit. Alternatively you can arrange collection with your own carrier. Please let us know if you will be sending your own carrier or would like us to send the unit back to you.
