I am having significant problems copying CDs
I took delivery of CD burner last Wednesday 24th Jan and have had major problems copying discs with a failure rate of 5 or 6 discs out of seven.
The problem has been in two forms 1) the discs will not read as being ready for copying (target disc not ready message) and / or 2) the discs will eject from the system as though they have been copied but will be
blank.
The discs that have copied succesfully have been on different drives each time but no one drive has copied reliably every time.
Rick Sims has been on-site for yesterday and spent a considerable amount of time on he problem to no avail.
The source discs are of good quality with good data. The target discs are from mixed spindles but are all Imation CD-R.
I would be interested in your views. The demand for duplicate discs we have is high and this is clearly an unacceptable waste of resource.
Dear Michael. You should be achiveing 99% success rate with your copies. There could be a fault with your reader. If you enter setup you shoudl find option 8 which reads select source. You shld try a source drive other than the selected default rom drive. I can assure you the unit will have been extensively bench tested prior to despatch. Please advise re your order number. Does the device work with the sample media we sent. You would be wise no to mix your media.

I have tried this to no effect. Currently the unit is working as a stand alone copier and is not connected to a PC or workstation so I'm not sure running the sample media will do anything (?) correct me if I'm wrong. It won't copy either.
I'm not mixing media I was just using multiple discs from different soindles in case the whole spindle was corrupt or faulty

Ricks Comment - The tests I carried out last week out of 2 batches on a known good source cd - I got one good cd and 6 duff ones per batch. the duff ones had data written to them but were totally unreadable on more than one cd/dvd player (yes I sat there and checked each one).
We are only copying cds with basic dicom data (these like a sort of jpg file and totally standard for PCs)
each cd will have 1000 or so images from .5Mg to 2Mg in size.
The top CD is the one that burns properly, all the others are not burning correctly.
We already have reported a fault with the USB.
Basically we need a unit that works reliably.
This is not fit for purpose at the moment. So please escalate the problem and expedite a solution for the client or they will ship it back and you and I will loose a potentially good customer.
Thanks and really appreciate your assistance on this
Rick

You can confirm that the unit is not connected to a PC, Has not got USB mode enabled, you have the soruce drive selected as the ROM (reader) you have got a disc known to be recordable in the duplicator, you have got fresh stock of media known to work with this duplicator. Please let me know.
